During West Coast Party Jr., check this page for a glimpse of all the fun, learning, friendship, Jewish fun and adventure we will have!
The campers arrived at YMCA Jones Gulch camp today for West Coast Party Jr! After being assigned to their cabins, they got to meet their new cabinmates and move in. Then we all joined together as one community in the Chadar Ohel, our Dining Hall, for Shabbat blessings over the candles, wine, and challah followed by a delicious dinner with all of Fall Camp and West Coast party Jr.
After we ate, our song leaders and musicians helped us welcome in Shabbat with shira and dancing. The campers learned a ton of new songs and dances – but the best was doing a conga line all around the room!
We ended the evening arm-in-arm with our new friends and counselors singing siyum, our closing blessing, before adjourning to our own cabins for bonding before going to bed. Laila tov, parents!
Today, after a hearty breakfast, we headed off to a visual T’fillah where campers got to hear a rap of this week’s Torah portion. After T’fillah, West Coast Party Jr. split up by session and left for their respective activities. One program let the campers create and pitch innovative apps based on Jewish values. After programming, they went on a beautiful hike through the gigantic redwoods. Now it’s time for lunch!!!
After a busy day of activities, West Coast Party Jr. campers got some chill time – a moment for rest, relaxation and bonding with their bunkmates and friends. They needed the energy because shortly thereafter, they moved into a ton of new activities. First, they got to choose between climbing, hiking, ziplining, arts, and more. Next, they took some time to write letters and a create a talit to send to the community at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. One the most fun parts of an already packed day was the color war dance party they had after dinner. They finished off the day with a beautiful closing circle around the campfire.
As camp comes to a close we sadly have our last couple of activities. After a nice breakfast with muffins, bagels, fresh fruit, and more, we moved into a fun block with more chances for sports, art, and time to hang out. Both Fall Camp and West Coast Party Jr. got the chance to come together and have a siyum to our weekend and say goodbye to new and old friends. It was an incredible weekend full of excitement and friends, but now its time to go home and get excited for the next chance to come to camp!
