Alumni Shabbat + CIT Countdown 2023

June 30th and July 1st

Calling all Saratoga, Swig, and Newman Alumni! Whether you attended camp 5 years ago or 50 years ago, reconnect with other alumni during this Shabbat!

Miss Your Camp Friends? Find Them Here!

The legacy of Reform Jewish Camping in the West began with Camp Saratoga continued with Camp Swig and is carried forward at Camp Newman. We are one family, standing on the shoulders of generations of leaders, musicians, artists and educators who have created and sustained a magical home – one that transends physical place – for tens of thousands of campers, faculty and staff for over 70 years. We have shared more precious moments and have made more joyous memories together than one can count. As much as camp has left an imprint on you, you have made an indelible mark on Camp’s personality, purpose and soul. We hope that you will continue to be a friend of camp – as a supporter, visitor, donor, friend – or all of the above.

We want to stay in touch!

Calling all alumni – Camps Saratoga, Swig and Newman – we have so much we want to share but we still have your parent’s contact information or your college address or your old land line or your teenage email address that had a candy reference in it! You get the point!

Take our Alumni Census! We’re so proud of you, we want to celebrate you AND we want you to know all the big news coming up.

Founded in April 2021, Legacy of Tikkun was created to allow the alumni of Camp Swig to share their current work, and to explore the ways in which their time at camp influenced their lives. Being exposed to activists, artists and scholars at camp planted seeds of understanding: that the world is bigger than each of us; that it is unfinished; and that it is incumbent on each of us to heal and repair the world. We gather to learn more about who we are and why, and to support Jewish Camps so that they can continue to offer young people opportunities to develop their own relationship to moral action and tikkun olam.

Environmental Action to Protect Life on Earth – If Not Now – When??

On Sunday, December 12, 2021, Legacy of Tikkun is proud to present the fifth event in our series of Camp Alumni Speaker Series. Wildlife conservation expert Sanford Rabinowitch, Environmental planner, historian and activist Ronald Eber and coastal protection advocate Adi Liberman will comprise our panel, moderated by environmental attorney Karen Goldberg. Our panelists’ experience spans environmental history, activism, land conservation, hazardous waste remediation and water quality protection, having worked for public entities, private companies and nonprofits on local, state, regional, national and international levels. The speakers will discuss the influences and camp experiences that impacted their lifelong commitments and contributions to Tikkun Olam, environmental protection, how to have hope and take-action now.
