Why Choose Camp Newman?
We live by our values.
Everything we do at Camp Newman – from our Jewish programs, to on the sports fields, to hanging out with friends – is rooted in the Jewish principles of:
- Tikkun Olam – bettering our world
- Tikkun Middot – bettering ourselves
- Gimilute Chasadim – acts of loving kindness
- Betzelem Elohim – all humans are created in a divine image
- Talmud Torah – love of learning for learning’s sake
- Ahavat Israel – love of Israel
These timeless, universal values form the backbone of every program we plan, anchoring each event in our Jewish tradition. It’s just one way we make Judaism relevant, accessible and meaningful today.
We offer programs tailored to your camper’s age and interests.
From our youngest unit for entering 3rd graders to our CIT program for entering 12th graders, Camp Newman gives you more opportunities to make new friends, try new things, and bond closer with your age group.
Every camper gets to choose from an abundant mix of fun activities, experience the magic of Judaism and Shabbat, build friendships that last a lifetime – and have a TON of fun! We invite you to visit each program page, where you’ll find a gallery of photos, videos and blog posts about each session.
We hire the very best staff who are passionate about camp.
Our counselors are Jewish role models who have a true love of camp. They are enthusiastic, fun, and our best camp ambassadors.
Whether they grew up at Camp Newman, or are here for their first summer from as far as Israel and England, we put a lot of effort into picking the very best staff who are committed to giving your camper the very best camp experience possible. Through a rigorous application process and an intensive staff orientation program, our staff are trained to create a community of acceptance, where each and every member of the community is vital and important, and to role model the values of friendships, community, and Judaism.
We offer a diverse array of programs and activities.
At Camp Newman, no two days are the same.
While we host hundreds of campers at any point during summer, we provide each one with a meaningful and memorable experience personally catered to their needs. All of the activities and programs at URJ Camp Newman are age specific. Each session at camp has its own daily schedule that allows for our campers to have a unique programmatic experience that is designed exclusively for their age group.
