Dear Friends,

In approximately 45 days, our first campers will arrive to launch our amazing Summer 2018 season. Our excitement and anticipation builds each day as we get closer to welcoming our first campers and staff. As we have done for 70 years, we are preparing for a summer full of fun, friendship, learning and growth for all of our community members.

The Camp Newman professional team has helped to transform the lives of countless campers and staff members. We’ve been blessed to have a team that has worked together successfully and consistently over the past number of years. While we’ve been lucky to have this consistency, we also know that change can bring great opportunity, and we are writing to share with you one such change to our professional staff team.

Mikey Latner, our Assistant Director since 2014, has announced that he will be leaving his role of Senior Assistant Director of Camp Newman, effective post-summer.

Mikey’s boundless energy and passion for recreation and staffing has strengthened Camp. Mikey has encouraged us to continually seek out new and creative ways to engage with each other, with nature, and with programming. Mikey’s impact on Camp Newman will be felt for years to come. We will miss all that Mikey brings to our team, and wish him the best as he moves onto new opportunities. Mikey, his wife, Sasha, and their dog, Laika, will be moving to Los Angeles after this summer.

We will open a search for a new Assistant Camp Director, even while Mikey remains an integral part of this team.

We are all looking forward to a wonderful summer at #NewmanByTheBay!

All the best,

Rabbi Erin and Ruben
