We are thrilled to share wonderful news! Rachel Dubowe, an alumna of URJ Camp Newman, URJ Kutz Camp, and NFTY SOCAL, will be joining our full-time team on Aug 1, 2019, as URJ California Camps Assistant Director and NFTY SOCAL Regional Advisor.

Rachel will create meaningful, year-round Jewish experiences for NFTY SOCAL participants, and work with our URJ California Camps.

Growing up in Southern California, Rachel was raised with a love of Jewish experiential learning and sunshine. In high school, she tried to attend every NFTY SOCAL event. Rachel is a firm believer in the power of summer camp and credits a significant part of her Jewish identity to URJ Kutz Camp and Camp Newman, where she spent significant time as a participant and senior staff member, specifically in the realm of camper care and inclusion.

Rachel holds a B.S. in Human Development from UC Davis and was very active in her campus Hillel. After participating In a MASA Israel program and working in a variety of Jewish educational environments in the greater LA area, Rachel earned a Master’s in Jewish Education at the Rhea Hirsch School of Education at Hebrew Union College. As part of her education at HUC, she was the Camp Newman and NFTY SOCAL/CWR Intern working with camper care and Jewish education. Most recently, Rachel was the Experiential Educator for the Builders of Jewish Education in Los Angeles.

Please see a note from Rachel below and join us in welcoming her back to the URJ and to our community!

Warmly,

A Message from Rachel Dubowe!

As a proud NFTY SOCAL and URJ Camps alumna, I could not be more thrilled to return to the world that shaped me as a Reform Jewish teenager from Los Angeles. Since high school, I have been connected to NFTY SOCAL and URJ Camp Newman in a variety of roles and am so excited for what this new position as URJ California Camps Assistant Director and NFTY SOCAL Regional Advisor will bring!

I believe strongly in the power of community, experiential education, and in Jewish teachable moments, and know that this is where NFTY SOCAL and the California Camps truly shine.

I cannot wait to get to know all of you amazing teens, campers, families, youth professionals, educators, lay leaders, and clergy who are intertwined with NFTY SOCAL and California Camps.

Thank you for welcoming me into this meaningful community. I am so ready to see what we can create and learn together!
