Autumn has come to URJ Camp Newman, our home away from home. The leaves are changing and we are already sowing the seeds for our next summer and the opening of enrollment on Tuesday, October 18th.

There once was a boy who had a terrible temper, often exploding in fits of rage. His father gave him an assignment to help him control his anger: every time he got upset, he was to hammer a nail into the fence in their yard. The boy did as his father asked, hammering nails into the fence.

Hevrah Stands up to Gun Violence
Since the 1980s, Hevrah has been a program at Camp Newman which focuses on social action and Tikkun Olam, the Jewish value of repairing the world. Every year, Hevrah researches and discusses a different issue that is currently impacting our society. This summer, we have put our focus on our country’s problem with gun violence.
